I hate winter

Winter sucks for most people but the last few winters have been totally insane.  It is a proven fact that the suicide rate is the highest in the winter.  Pagans see the winter as the dark side of the wheel.  I live in one of the few cities where it can be 80 degrees one day and freaking snow 10 inches the next!

So this winter we have gone through snow, ice, rain, sun (barely), more rain, more snow and more ice – and this can be all in the same week!  Sunday it was almost 60 degrees outside and this morning the windchill was 20.  And people wonder why the flu is killing people?

So I had a lovely Monday at work.  I can say that my floor is pretty flexible with schedules and such.  You know we do not have a clock to clock in on and as long as your department is covered things go smoothly.  I reiterate that last sentence – AS LONG AS YOUR DEPARTMENT IS COVERED THINGS GO SMOOTHLY!!!

So yesterday I get here and I start to walk around the floor glancing at our individual in/out boards and notice – OMGoddess I am the only one here for 4 departments!!!!! OK logic flies out the window at this point.  We are all cross-trained to a point and while I can handle myself pretty well on the technical stuff โ€“ if I do not have access to something I obviously cannot handle it. This is not rocket science people.

So finally one other person comes in as the issue emails start pouring in. โ€œThank the Goddess,โ€ I scream to myself hoping no one hears. And still emails start pouring in and we still come across issues we cannot handle. And how do you think people react to, โ€œOh sorry, so and so will not be here until after the New Year so we have to put the whole corporation on hold until they get back.โ€ Now there is productivity in the making!

I heard on the news this morning that every TEN minutes that a road or lane is closed down for an accident or traffic is backed up into a gridlock that community loses over $10,000 in productivity. It is amazing I make it into my office by 8 AM every day!

On a new subject โ€“ my birthday is coming up in a couple weeks and I have a three day weekend that weekend โ€“ YAY! I am trying to decide what to do for my birthday. I want to go out โ€“ I think. I could go up to one of the clubs in Dayton or maybe out to Yaddaโ€™s. I just think I really need to get back into the scene of things. I miss hanging out with friends and actually knowing who is who in the LGBT community. Hell I donโ€™t even know my next door neighborโ€™s name and we have lived next to each other for 4 years!

So on that noteโ€ฆ I am working with other lesbian momโ€™s in the area to try and pull together all the LGBT parents in the greater Cincinnati area and start a COLAGE group in our area. I think our kids need a good support group and my son loves what COLAGE does for him. Well I think I am off for now. I finished all my work for the week yesterday so I have to find something to make me look busy!

If you ever want to go out to Yadda, let me know, that’s where my friends and I usually end up ^_^

So what is it like? I have yet to go there. Rosie’s is nice and I am to the point where I cannot stand Shirley’s and Bullfishes always seems to be single’s night when I go – although that would not be such a bad thing these days!

I like it. ^_^ Usually has a pretty good crowd, at least Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. It’s two levels, the main floor (where the bar and the dance area are) is non smoking. There’s a non smoking pool area on the main floor, and then the upstairs is smoking, and I think that has pool, but I’ve never been up there. There’s a patio in back that’s nice when it’s warmer. It’s much more “modern” and less “dive” than Bullfishes, although I still kinda like Bullfishes ^_^

            Want a book? ^_~

I snuck out at 5am, with my parents help. They brought their car over, I grabbed the cats and the computer (just the tower) and walked out the door while he was still sleeping, assuming I was going to work (he was unemployed, and had been for 5 months). I left a note saying I had left, and that I was going out that day to get a TPO (temporary protection order), and that he needed to be GONE by that evening. Luckily he obeyed, and that was how I got him out of the apartment, but that was only the 3rd time we broke up. This was April 2002.

Once he was back at his parents, he tried contacting me again. “I still love you, blah blah blah.” Keep in mind I DID have a protection order against him (restraining order). But he wore me down, and I started seeing him again, though he was still at his parents in Hamilton, and I was in Anderson Township. After about a month, with me living on my own in the apartment, I realized, “he is REALLY not what I want.” I wanted a woman. I wanted someone who would treat me well. I wanted someone who wouldn’t call me a bitch every day. I wanted someone who wouldn’t threaten to kill me. So I sent him an email saying it was COMPLETELY over, and then I cut off all contact.

It hurt. It hurt me. He was all I had known for 2 years, and then he wasn’t around anymore. That was the reason I kept going back to him, have someone want me. But after about a month the hurt went away, and I have felt IMMENSELY, ENORMOUSLY better ever since.

            ^_^
