Together we made a pact
to love one another
to be in each other’s lives
this day and in forever

In each other’s arms
we fought against the past
creating each other’s future
we dreamed of what would last

Nothing would come between us
or so we thought that night
a wall was built within us
we gave up without a fight

All we ever wanted
crashed down upon us fast
we couldn’t pick up the pieces
we couldn’t make us last

Even in our dreams
so far away we seemed
to pull the pieces back together
was harder than we ever dreamed

Maybe it wasn’t our time
it happens now and again
to love someone completely
or to just be their friend

But though the years have past
I can’t help but wonder why
If we threw our love away
what would happen if we try

Remembering old feelings
the heart often wins
even just the little things
even just letting each other back in

You can’t imagine my surprise
as the tears fell from my eyes
memories of a past not forgotten
was just hiding behind love’s enamored disguise.
